Food Drives

We get about 5% of our food from community food drives, and YOU CAN HELP; Please donate to all of the Food drives that are held throughout each year. Remember, those in need of food are hungry all year, not just over the holidays.

  • Let's Bag Hunger, Nov 16 - 26, 2008 is sponsored by the Daily Camera. Drop off bags of food at grocery stores in Boulder, Louisville, Lafayette and Niwot.
  • Hunger Hurts, held this year from March 12th to March 25th, 2008, sponsored by the Daily Times-Call. In 2008, we exceeded the amount collected in the last 2 years, by bringing in 66,000 pounds of food! Bags of food are collected at grocery stores in Longmont, Louisville, Niwot, Gunbarrel, Superior, Hygiene & Lafayette.
  • Letter Carriers, held each year in May, sponsored by the National Association of Letter Carriers and the US Postal Service. Put canned food in your mailbox and your carrier will pick it up.

Or, take the lead and organize a food drive of your own through your business, school, church group or organization. We can help with bags, logistical tips, etc.. Non-perishable canned goods are badly needed, especially canned fruit and tuna.

If you would like to organize a food drive of your own to benefit CFS, please follow this link to access a complete set of instructions. Thanks! FOOD DRIVE INSTRUCTIONS

Food donations are welcome throughout the year, especially in the spring and summer months when donations are at a low.  Donors wishing to know what the most needed items are, please call Community Food Share at (303) 652-3663.
