Bequests

What if you could make a permanent difference in strengthening the mission and vision of Community Food Share? You can, by including CFS in your estate plans.

When you create or revise your will or living trust, we hope that you will consider including Community Food Share. Gifts to CFS are not subject to estate tax (Tax ID# 74-2227731)

As you consider an esate gift, it may be useful to know some of the bequest options you have.

You could include CFS in your will or trust for a fixed dollar amount.
You could name CFS to receive a percentage of the residue of the estate (the amount left after the bills have been paid and specific bequests have been satisfied).
You could bequeath personal property, such as a car, or a gift of securities in your portfolio.
You could make your bequest unrestricted.
You could restrict your bequest to a specific purpose or program.
You could designate your bequest to establish or add to an endowment.

If you already have a will, and would like to inexpensively make a change to that will, you can use a codicil, as opposed to re-drafting the will. The codicil is an appendage to a will that adds or modifies something in the will. They are just as legal and binding as the main document. If you want to add a beneficiary to your will, or adjust the amount you had previously decided to give, either can be done effectively through a codicil. It's easy, and it's low cost.
