Food Safety Training for member agencies

CFS Agency Monthly Report

Our member agencies receive food from us for FREE, including free delivery. These agencies include basic needs programs, soup kitchens, emergency assistance programs, senior programs, shelters, child care centers and agencies serving disabled citizens, the mentally ill, low-income working poor and at-risk youth. We help them stretch their dollars by supplying free food for their programs.

Approximately 64% of the food we receive is distributed through the agencies. In 2009, we distributed over 4 million pounds of food at no charge to agencies, with a value of over $ 6 million dollars. We also provided free delivery for 88% of the food.

We currently serve over 50 agencies in Boulder & Broomfield counties, including:

Member Agency Profile; Carriage House Community Table

The Carriage House Community Table provides a safe, supportive community for the homeless and working poor. The organization is committed to addressing their immediate survival needs, and provides services that lead to stability, healing and employment for our community's homeless. Carriage House Community Table provides a wide variety of services both at the Carriage House and at the free dinners hosted at several churches. Clients have the opportunity to get free meals, medical and mental health services, and to meet with a case manager who will assist with everything from employment services to addiction concerns.

Joy Eckstine, Executive Director of Carriage House Community Table said, "The relationship with Community Food Share is one of our most important community collaborations. Because of CFS we are able to provide hot, nutritious meals to over 200 people a day. We are also able to save our operating funds for the casework integral to our client's paths to self-sufficiency."

Member agency letter to CFS:

"xxxxx Food Bank wishes to extend a hearty thanks to you, your staff and all of your generous donors who are instrumental in providing the enormous amount of food to us every week. After working with your organization for the past 4 years, we are still continually amazed at the consistent nutritional selection and quantity of food your agency provides. Just from our agency alone, we are serving over 1100 individuals in the Longmont area with boxes of food totaling close to 5 TONS every week. And it should be noted that it is delivered to us free of charge"

"We are equally as satisfied with the professionalism of your staff and the courteous assistance they provide. Your recent recommendation of training agency staff on food safety procedures and the ease of accessibility to this training is just another way you provide valuable training tools to the agencies and general food safety to the clients."

"Your organization is making a difference in our community and we are honored and proud to be a part."
