It is estimated that Boulder and Broomfield Counties have over 50,000 residents living in poverty, and hunger is a real part of their lives, every day....that's enough people to fill up Folsom Field!
Community Food Share is dedicated to improving lives by turning your small acts of generosity and kindness into a big difference in the lives of hungry families and children in your community. Working through over 50 member agencies, Community Food Share efficiently delivered 6.6 million pounds of food in 2009. CFS serves as a safety net for those who are hungry in Boulder and Broomfield Counties. Also, as part of the Feeding America network, Community Food Share can provide four meals for each dollar contributed.
CFS provided 6.6 million pounds of food in 2009 (24% more than in 2008). In order to sustain activities at this level, we need your help! Please join us in our mission to ensure that all people in Boulder & Broomfield Counties do not go hungry.

The USDA released a report 11/17/09 indicating that 14.6% of US households were food insecure (meaning that their food intake was reduced because they lacked money for food). This is up from 11.1% last year. Full report

The Feeding America national Hunger Study results are in!
Key Findings within CFS's service area:
- The Feeding America system served by Community Food Share provides emergency food for an estimated 33,000 different people annually, either through our member agencies or our direct distribution programs.
- 39% of the members of households served by Community Food Share are children.
- 51% of households include at least one employed adult.
- Among households with children, 88% are food insecure and 25% are food insecure with very low food security.
- 44% of clients served by Community Food Share report having to choose between paying for food and paying for utilities or heating fuel.
- 34% had to choose between paying for food and paying for medicine or medical care.
- 21% of households report having at least one household member in poor health.
